Here at Woodroffe we try to recognize all achievements of our students. Specificaly, we reward our sports teams with a trophy if they finish 2nd or 3rd in a tournament because a championship banner is handed out to the winning team but nothing is given to the 2nd and 3rd place winners. We have a plaque for our winners in the annual Woodroffe X-Country run, a plaque for the Public Speaking contest, one for the athletic award for grade 6 students who participate actively with sportmanship and who consistently apply themselves in the classroom. Another plaque for our grade 6 students is the Principal's award which goes to the person who best exemplifies a student who participates in all aspects of school and community life. The Woodroffe Trophy Showcase was conceived and designed by Mrs. Judy Blais and M. Jason Boyer in 2003. The final drawing was finished in 2004 and was built by the board carpenter in March of 2004. A special thanks to School Council for covering half of the expense. Our school board is governed by the OCEAA (Ottawa-Carleton Elementary Athletic Association). The board is divided into 4 regions and Woodroffe P.S. is placed in the Southwest division. A regional meet or tournament is held for each activity with a board final held for Cross-Country and Track & Field (grade 6-8). For individual activities such as Cross-Country running and Track & Field a single Tier 1 meet is held. For all other sports their is also a Tier 2 division for smaller schools with a small junior division. The white banners represent a win in Tier 1, the red banners represent a win in Tier 2 and the blue banners represent a win at the board championships. |
